SD Emergency App Reviews

Great application packed with important info

This is a great tool to prepare and respond in emergency situations. There are a lot of things to do to really be prepared when a disaster strikes. This app gets you thinking about that and has some very useful check lists to ensure nothing was missed in preparation.

A Real Lifesaver

As soon as I read this app was live, I grabbed it for all my devices, and believe me, this app will be a real lifesaver for some people. Everyone should have this app, and use it. Thank you for providing SD Emergency for all of us in the County. Totally awesome!!

Finally !

This will be a lifesaver app when it comes to fire season in San Diego. :) super happy with the app features and layout!!

Awesome App

Every county in the US should have an app like this!

Helpful!

Lots of info to help you and your family be prepared and keep informed in case of a disaster.

Is dec 21st 2012 near?

Excellent app!..but I suggest you know about it earlier as phones may not work during major disasters. Got to be prepared way before with no assumptions

Useful!

Great app for learning about and preparing for various types of disasters.

What SD needs!

Thank you! Every city should adopt this same idea.

Late for an emergency app

This app could be useful, but you will get notices about 4 hours after an emergency like a fire. Get the KFMB channel 8 app. Its more timely and wi alert you to traffic and other news stories much quicker.

Great concept - wish it was updated

Although a great concept, I wish the information was updated. When you notice smoke clouds in the sky, it would be nice to click on this app and know where the fire is located, if the fire is contained and if any roads are closed. The developer did a good job, but someone needs to be in charge of keeping the citizens of SD informed better.

Outdated information

When this app is not locked up, it does NOT give you updated information. Not a resource I can count on especially with fire season coming up.

An "Emergency" App?

Nice Layout and a great idea but... This app should be pulled until it works correctly. I am a animal evacuation volunteer so I need to keep up with the info on the fires around San Diego. During a couple of the fires notified it me that there was an emergency update, but when I went to the app to get it, the app timed out "Retrieving Data" or it took several minutes to get the update. Sometimes there wasnt even an update to be had. When I did get an update it was great! But, if the app cant even work correctly in regular life, how is it supposed to work in an emergency?

Good idea but too slow

The app needs to be faster in getting the info to people. I get a notification & click on it to open. Then, it has to authenticate, retrieve data, update configuration, retrieve data -- again -- and finally I can see what the emergency notification is all about. Takes 5-7 min to get the info; if it was a real emergency for me I might be in real trouble if I stand there that long waiting to see what Im supposed to do! Keep in mind I have a fairly new phone (iPhone 4S) & use it at home on wi-fi with 3-4 bars of service, so I dont think its an issue with my phone. This is a great app & great service to the community, but PLEASE make an upgrade it so people can get the info theyre supposed to in a timely fashion!

poor planning on a planning app

Got this 5-6 months ago in case of emergency. Yesterday it started "alarming", sending push notifications with this godawful inhuman accompanying sound because of an Amber Alert. I disabled the sound in notification center, didnt work so I disabled the notifications for this app, didnt work. Since theres no way to disable or modify the alert tone and notifications, and I dont want this terrible sound coming from my pocket during a work meeting, Im forced to delete this app from my phone.

App no longer authenticates

App just times out at start up authentication. Worthless app if you cant use it.

Performance is quite poor

Great idea, but takes several minutes (WiFi) to authenticate and download data at startup, and long delays to navigate beyond that -- all during a non-emergency scenario. App will be worthless in a crisis with many, many concurrent users.

Need to fix configuring and delayed data bugs

The app frequently gets stuck "configuring" so we can not see what the emergency is. The alert information is often a day or two old when it alerts us to an emergency. Recently, the app alerted us to an emergency. We opened the app within seconds of the alert but when we checked the information it was for a fire 2 days earlier. There was NO alert on the day of the fire! Not good! This could be a great app during an emergency if the bugs are fixed. I will not delete the app yet....hoping they will fix the bugs!

Has never worked.

Im going to finally just delete this app. While it sends alerts, it will NEVER open. If I wait a period of time allowing for the traffic it probably receives after an alert, there is ALWAYS an error message saying it cannot connect or, the app face just sits on screen. If I try to open this app when there have been NO alerts, it still does not open. Instead, I rely on the Red Cross Fire and Earthquake apps, which are great, but if a disaster hits SD of any proportion the most benefical would be this SD County Emergency app. Unfortunately, it is useless.

Data never loads

Keeps sending me alerts, but when I try to open it, the app times out retrieving the data. Worthless until this is fixed.

Great App When it Works

Has good info. I appreciate the notifications when Im at work without TV or radio. But some alerts are hours old, and then I cant be authenticated to log in and see the news. An update may be overdue.
